Kellan Lutz and his wife Brittany have announced the birth of their first child a year after tragically losing a stillborn baby.
The couple welcomed a baby girl – named Ashtyn Lilly – and shared the news on Instagram on Friday, four days after Brittany gave birth.
Kellan, 35, and Brittany, 32, both posted the same image of three Polaroids that showed them holding their newborn daughter in hospital.

Along with the soft snap, Brittany wrote: ‘She’s here !!!! Ashtyn Lilly Lutz. 2 • 22 • 21. The day she was born it was snowing and raining and freezing, but that night she was born and we woke up to the sun, the clear sky and the winter thaw .
Referring to her stillbirth last year, Brittany continued: ‘It was so symbolic considering that this time of last year was literally winter for our souls only to meet a year later with the brightest sun. She ushered in a new season for us and we love her beyond comprehension.
She continued, “God redeems. He restores He never leaves us heartbroken, we just have to give Him the broken pieces and what He transforms them into? Wow.
Brittany also reposted the image on her stories alongside the caption ‘It’s a girl! After previously revealing that they were expecting a girl.

Meanwhile, actor Kellan also shared his excitement over their new arrival by sharing Brittany’s post on his own page to his 960,000 followers.
He wrote, “Birth is amazing !!!”, alongside heart emojis and prayer hands.
The birth comes a year after the couple opened up about the loss of a baby while they were six months pregnant.

They announced in September that they were pregnant with Ashtyn by sharing a cute video on Instagram.
Lutz said: ‘We are pregnant again! This is real life… For those who don’t know, we are pregnant. Thank you all for accompanying you, for praying for us, for supporting us. We are so excited.
Brittany added: “ It was a surprise. You know, it was obviously a surprise to lose our daughter at the beginning of the year. It was difficult and it still is. There are still difficult times.

“Just that we’re having a girl,” Brittany replied, affectionately touching her baby bump and moving to reveal the word “girl” on the shirt.
She broke into a huge smile as Kellan shouted “girl mommy” behind the camera.
The couple said in the video that they are so excited and can’t wait to meet their new bundle of joy.
“Let me see that bump,” Kellan said to his wife. She dutifully showed her stomach to which he replied: “You are beautiful”.

“It was an absolute honor and pleasure for me to be your mom for the past 6 months,” she began, before being consoled that her daughter was “in Jesus’ arms now …”
“One day we can meet you for real. Until I see you in Heaven … your mom loves you so much, ” she wrote.
Kellan and Brittany announced that they were secretly married in November 2017, just one month after publicly announcing their engagement.
