Kelly Clarkson’s divorce from a separated husband Brandon blackstock has become a messy court battle.
Clarkson filed for divorce in June 2020, citing “irreconcilable differences” after about seven years of marriage to Blackstock. The couple share daughter River, 6, and son Remington Alexander, 4.
From the outset, Clarkson was ordered to pay Blackstock $ 150,000 each month in spousal support. On top of that, Clarkson must pay Blackstock $ 45,601 each month for child support, according to People magazine.
The “Since You’ve Been Gone” singer was also ordered to pay $ 1.25 million in legal fees for Blackstock.

Kelly Clarkson filed for divorce from Brandon Blackstock in June 2020. Since then, the two have been locked in a messy court battle over a myriad of things.
However, the marriage contract between Clarkson and Blackstock stood firm in court. Blackstock initially disputed the document.
The prenuptial agreement divided their assets and the income earned during the marriage. Blackstock, who was previously Clarkson’s manager, had argued that he should receive half of everything that had accrued during the marriage, including Clarkson’s income.
In addition to the divorce, Clarkson and Blackstock were locked in a separate legal battle over money. The judge’s management company “The Voice”, Starstruck Management Group, sued her for unpaid commissions. Blackstock’s father, Narvel Blackstock, runs Starstruck.
The record indicated that Clarkson did not pay a full year’s commission for his work on “The Voice” and his hit talk show, “The Kelly Clarkson Show”. Clarkson sued and charged Blackstock and the management company of defraud her by making it pay excessive fees.
Amid the myriad of court battles, Clarkson also asked the judge declare her legally single and restore his last name.

It is not clear what the “irreconcilable differences” were, but Blackstock was reportedly “extremely jealous” of Clarkson’s career success.
“The relationship had been on the rocks for a long time,” a source said Us Weekly said. “She was the high income person with a very successful talk show, and is the star of another hit show ‘The Voice’. Brandon was extremely jealous of that and let him know.”
Despite the complexity of the legal battles, Clarkson admitted the divorce was “horrible.”

Despite the complexity of the legal battles, Clarkson admitted the divorce was “horrible”.
“There are so many difficult parts” she explained during a December episode on his talk show. “The hardest part for me is the kids, the hardest part for me. I think as women in particular we are trained… to take it all and you can face it and everything is fine, but it’s your babies that you worry about. ”
Clarkson married Blackstock in 2013. The two met at a rehearsal for the Academy of Country Music Awards in 2006. Clarkson was on hand to perform a “What Hurts the Most” duet with Rascal Flatts. Blackstock was the band’s tour manager at the time.
