There are only a few weeks left before the fourth chapter of Disney / Pixar's magical book. Toy Story In the movie theaters, families could do a lot worse than spend 88 minutes with other toy dolls that, although they do not exactly have the same name – or, let's face it, shine – like in these movies, do their best. is a bit the message anyway.
Uglydolls, based on the 2001 toy line that made its way into the hearts of children with a ragtag set of unconventional and imperfect dolls, is a natural for a movie adaptation, and director Kelly Asbury and his team found a good path in the story that should fully satisfy the target audience of young children, as well as fans of pop stars who dominate voice distribution. In this respect, the film can be compared less to Toy Story and more to The trolls, who also presented a strong pop score.
It was a wise decision to take the Uglydolls and plon in the heart of an animated musical confection. The songs are humiliating, including "Broken And Beautiful," "All Dolled Up," "Unbreakable," and "The Ugly Truth," a politically incorrect polemic, sung with conviction by Nick Jonas, who portrays the character of Lou, the chief fair and seemingly flawless in the city of Perfection, where every doll admitted is no less perfect (she has no hair put in her place) as she prepares to join the production line of the company to land in the child's bedroom.
Moxy (Kelly Clarkson, who gave her everything, musically and otherwise) wants nothing more than to be part of this other world, a pink love with problems of image. She is determined to bring her band of friends just as unsuitable to perfection who all reside in Uglyville, a dark village and threatening waste, and to go to the place where Lou goes. UglyDog (Pitbull), Uglyville Ox Mayor (Blake Shelton), Wage (Wanda Sykes), Lucky Bat (Chinese pop star Wang Leehom) and Babo (Gabriel Iglesias) are part of his crowd. Wedgehead (Emma Roberts) is making a jump into their lives someday.
This inconvenient team is doing well, but the reception of Lou and other members of Perfection is less than inviting. However, one of these so – called pretty dolls, Mandy (Janelle Monae), sees the humanity of the Uglyville arrivals and, because she 's hiding her own imperfections, decides to bond with her. friendship with them.
Their difficult situation and their final realization that physical "perfection" is not really the goal, and that knowing who we are inside is what really matters is the intelligent message that kids need more than ever hear. Uglydolls the book in a sweet and beautiful way, and parents can feel safe with this one. And then there is this score! The songs of composer Christopher Lennertz and lyricist Glenn Slater are excellent for this kind of thing and they do well on their own.
