Kelly Clarkson revealed that some celebrities were “rude” and “mean” to her during her first competition on American Idol… With the exception of Jennifer Love Hewitt.
In Friday’s episode of The Kelly Clarkson Show, the talk show host thanked Hewitt for showing her kindness early in her career. Clarkson recalled how they first met “at some sort of MTV Awards” – that would be the 2002 MTV Video Music Awards – days before the Season 1 finale of American Idol.
“You probably don’t remember it, but it has been with me for so long, like almost 20 years now,” Clarkson began.
“You ran towards me… and people were really mean to us because we came from a talent show and this was the first season. Like, everyone was so rude to us, like on the mat, at the show, ”she continued. “It was so bad. It was a horrible experience. “
Clarkson remembers being approached by Hewitt, who offered him kind advice.
“You came towards me, you ran towards me from nowhere and you said to yourself, ‘Oh my God, I really encourage you.’ You said to me, ‘Please keep your loved ones so close. It will end up affecting a few people in your life, unfortunately, but this business can be very difficult, ”recalls Clarkson.
“You just gave me this advice which was really kind at such an unpleasant time for me personally. So thank you very much, ”she added. “It meant the world to me. You were so nice.
Clarkson probably has the last laugh now.
