Kelly Clarkson talks about her divorce.

In a recent interview on the singer’s daytime talk show, Clarkson, 38, spoke to Alicia Keys and writer Glennon Doyle about her divorce.

During the conversation, “American Idol” referred to her divorce from Brandon Blackstock, her husband of seven, calling the process “horrible.”

“There are so many difficult parts,” she explained. “The hardest part for me is the kids, the hardest for me. I think as women in particular we are trained … to face anything and you can face it and everything is fine. fine, but it’s your babies that you worry about. “

Clarkson filed for divorce from Blackstock in June, citing “irreconcilable differences” after about seven years of marriage. They share their daughter River, 6, and their son Remington Alexander, 4.

Clarkson praised Doyle’s book, “Untamed” and said it gave him an update on his own marriage.

She remembers feeling that her marriage “is not a happy one for both of us” and that she and Blackstock “deserve better”.

The singer recently got primary physical custody of her children amid the split.

According to People, the singer and talk show host has been given primary custody of the children in an effort to stabilize the children’s lives. Blackstock, a talent manager, plans to live in Montana while Clarkson continues to work and live in Los Angeles.

In court documents obtained by the outlet, the court ruled that “the level of conflict between parents has increased. Parties are struggling with co-parenting due to trust issues between them.”

As a result, Blackstock will be permitted to visit and video chat with children in Los Angeles daily at a pre-arranged time. In addition, the children will spend their Thanksgiving break with their dad and from December 19 to Christmas at 2 p.m. as well. Meanwhile, Clarkson is taking them out this afternoon until the New Years holidays are over.

People note that they will share joint physical and legal custody, but that she will remain the primary holder of physical custody in Los Angeles.
