Kelly Dodd from The Real Housewives of Orange County had been fascinating to watch on the show as she ticked off her co-stars. However, fans weren’t expecting to feel attacked by one of the stars of the Bravo series. This is how many felt when Dodd played down the pandemic and apparently mocked COVID as families mourned the loss of loved ones at home. Almost a year later, Dodd’s future in the franchise could be in jeopardy and she is bracing for the worst.

The times are changing

While Dodd has always made controversial statements, none have produced the huge backlash for his COVID-19 statements. Dodd was seen as the future of RHOC like Vicki Gunvalson and Tamra Judge left the reality TV series after more than 12 years. Season 16 didn’t have any of the OGs holding an orange anymore and that would have been Dodd’s chance to shine.

However, when the mysterious virus hit American soil, uncertainty began to set in. Production for RHOC was cut short shortly after filming began as everyone tried to fight the coronavirus.

Dodd is a heavy user of social media and is never afraid to say what she thinks like in the reality show. Responding to criticism for traveling while the country was on lockdown, she downplayed the severity of the virus and said COVID-19 was “God’s way of thinning the flock.

When Dodd appeared on Watch what is happening live, Dodd said she regrets making the statement because she is viewed as unresponsive by fans.

“Of course, I regret saying that,” Dodd said of his “thin the herd” comment. “It was a stupid thing to say for me, it was callous and I apologize if I hurt or offended anyone. It wasn’t really my intention… I really panicked. Looking back, it was the dumbest thing I ever said.

Kelly Dodd continues to be controversial

More recently, California lifted a statewide order and allowed restaurants to reopen for alfresco dining. Dodd, who leans on the Tories and has criticized Democratic Governor Gavin Newsom, celebrated stepping out and documenting the gathering of his friends.

As Dodd posted on Instagram Live, a man is heard saying that no one in the restaurants had a mask on and that they were all “super spreaders.” The entrepreneur echoed those words and applauded being “super spreaders”. Keep in mind that in less than a year, the death toll in the United States for those affected by the coronavirus has horribly approached 500,000.

Shortly after the video went viral, Positive Beverage announced that it was severing ties with Dodd. Although the latter says she still owns 5% of the company, they said they denounced Dodd for his “controversial views.”

“Our core values of well-being, community, diversity and inclusion must be reflected by our brand and everyone associated with it,” said Zack Muchnick, Brand Manager in a declaration. “It has become clear over the past few months that Kelly’s controversial views and opinions have distracted attention from our primary goals, so effective today that we are no longer affiliated with Kelly Dodd-Leventhal.

Kelly Dodd expects to be fired

The consequences of Dodd’s words and his lack of sensitivity to Americans suffering loss in their families caused Dodd to lose business opportunities. After Positive Beverage sends a message firing her, many fans expect Bravo to do the same. Now, a source close to Dodd reveals that the reality TV personality also expects to be cut from RHOC.

“As much as she would love to stay on the show, she took it on,” an insider told E! News. “She knows it’s coming.

The source also said that Dodd believes the network favors other cast members like Braunwyn Windham-Burke. As of yet, Bravo hasn’t made any official announcements about the franchise’s future. However, Andy Cohen, who is an executive producer on the series, has hinted that a reboot may be happening.
