Senator Kelly Loeffler (R-GA) admitted Sunday morning that she categorically refused to give a direct response when pressed to reveal whether she would have voted to override President Donald Trump’s veto on the latest law of authorization of national defense.
The Senate voted by an overwhelming 81: 13 majority last Friday to overturn the president’s veto on the annual defense bill, with most Republicans joining Democrats in what became Trump’s first veto to be overturned .
The president had refused to sign the NDAA because it contained provisions to remove names from named bases for Confederate generals and did not include the repeal of Section 230, a law granting immunity to social media companies for posting of third party content.
Loeffler, along with his Georgian Republican colleague Senator David Perdue, did not take part in Friday’s vote, citing their campaign activities in the next Senate second round. During his interview on Fox News Sunday, guest host Bret Baier has repeatedly pushed the Conservative lawmaker to give his position on the bill – only for Loeffler to refuse to give a clear answer.

Loeffler, who has been closely linked to the president throughout the election, replied that she had “stood by the president’s side 100% of the time” before praising Trump for the military. She also pointed out that she had campaigned recently, which prompted Baier to step down.
“Realizing that campaigning is important and you are saying how important this election is on January 5th, but obviously Georgia is a great defense state, current and former military here, defense business here,” he added. “How would you have voted if you had voted on this waiver of the veto right?”
Once again, Loeffler avoided the question, simply saying that she initially supported the NDAA before reiterating that she had campaigned in Georgia. At the same time, the senator accused Democrats of changing the original bill, saying she did not know how she would have voted.
She also lambasted her Democratic opponent, Reverend Raphael Warnock, by twisting a sermon he gave on not serving two masters, wrongly claiming he had “attacked” the military.
“But would you have supported the veto on the NDAA?” Baier pressed again.
“Listen, what’s at stake here is our military and our freedoms,” Loeffler pivoted once more. “These are the ballots right now. And I’m the daughter and granddaughter of veterans …. 5, our military will be defounded and worse.”
“I’m not going to insist on it, but it’s not a ‘yes’ or a ‘no’ whether you support the veto or not,” sighed the Fox News anchor.
“That’s right,” smirks a shameless Loeffler.
