Kelly Ripa and her husband Mark Consuelos have a new true crime series, Exhumed, which is due to air in January 2021.

Self-proclaimed crime junkies are producing the new show for Oxygen that will wrap up the network’s Nine Nights Of Twisted Killers programming block which begins on January 9.

Each episode of the show will examine a “ gripping murder case in which unearthing the body of a victim is the way to solve the twisted crime, ” the statement said.

The show will present an overview of the exhumation process as it affects both the families involved in the process, as well as an investigative look at the analysis of the corpse and the crime committed by the officers in charge. of the case.

“We look forward to delving into these fascinating cases and showing how crucial exhumations have been in solving crimes and ending families across America,” said Ripa and Consuelos.

Often citing ideas of foul play and “ unanswered questions ” as catalysts for the process, the show hopes to find more DNA to help get a full picture of the crime that may lead to further prosecutions.

The first episode will follow the case of Diana Kelley, a woman found dead in Joplin, Missouri. After initially suspecting foul play at the time of the crime, a new case years later reveals a coincidence that may link Diana’s death to the death of another resident.

The new show comes in the middle of the couple’s busy schedule as Ripa returns to work to shoot Live! With Kelly and Ryan in New York after halting studio production due to the pandemic, and Consuelos has been filming Riverdale in Vancouver for a few months.

Exhumed is set to end the exciting week of programming on January 17 at 7 p.m. ET with two consecutive episodes.
