Kelsey Grammer shared in a new interview that his upcoming reboot of Frasier would find his lead character living a charming life he never expected.
The 66-year-old actor told WNBC New York earlier this week that Dr. Frasier Crane will end up “rich beyond his dreams” in the upcoming Paramount + reboot next year.
He also clarified that the rest of Frasier’s main cast have been invited to return to the show, although none of the other cast has signed on to make it official yet.

Grammer, who appeared from a distance in an elegant white button-down shirt, compared Frasier to George Bailey, the iconic character played by James Stewart in Frank Capra’s classic It’s A Wonderful Life.
“He’s like the George Bailey of television,” he said. “He thinks he’s going to go and do one thing, and of course his life takes him in another direction.
“And he ends up rich beyond his dreams,” Grammer added, appearing to choke a bit.
The character made his debut as a supporting player on Cheers in his third season, before being replaced by the main cast in season five and staying until the eleventh and final season.

Change of scenery: “Frasier is going to change town, he is going to change town again. There is some surprise there, ”he revealed.
He followed up the series with his spin-off Frasier, which saw the character move to Seattle, where the psychiatrist accepted a new job as the host of a radio counseling show.
He landed in Chicago for the final episode of this series, and Grammer has confirmed that Frasier will not be based in Seattle in the new revival.
“Frasier is going to move town, he is going to change town again. There is a certain surprise there, ”he revealed.

Grammer also said the show plans to deal with the loss of actor John Mahoney, who played Frasier and Niles’ father, Martin Crane and died in 2018.

Frasier was originally on the air from 1993 to 2004.
During that time, he was a hit with critics and audiences alike, and he won the Outstanding Comedy Series Emmy for his first five consecutive years.
Grammer won four lead actor Emmys for the title role, while co-star David Hyde Pierce won four, and Jane Leeves was nominated for one.
Frasier set a record with 37 Grammy wins in total in his 11 seasons, a record at the time.
