There was no commercial deal for Walker given his maximum contract – a four-year, $ 140 million deal signed with the Hornets that is still two years and $ 74 million.

It was not immediately clear what Walker would sign with the Knicks for.

The 31-year-old’s game slipped last season as his body collapsed from knee injuries, playing 43 of 72 games. But the Knicks believe Walker is still an All-Star-caliber goalie if his body is okay.

Four-time All-Star Walker showed glimpses last season, averaging 20 points and five assists after the All-Star break.

The Knicks, whose offseason appears to be over, have a very real possibility of maintaining their fourth seed if Walker returns to All-Star form.

The Knicks swapped Elfrid Payton for Walker at the point guard and improved Evan Fournier for Reggie Bullock at the shooting guard.

The Thunder initially acquired Walker from the Celtics in June with the aim of returning him.

But there was ultimately no deal for Walker given his contact and the Knicks were lucky.
