Saturday Night Live Veteran Kenan Thompson is indeed ready for prime time: NBC has ordered the series The Kenan show, a sitcom starring Thompson, learned TVLine.

The family comedy is centered on Thompson's single father, who strives to be a super father for his two adorable daughters while balancing his work and his relationship with his stepfather … who "helps" in the most inappropriate. Oscar nominee Andy Garcia will play the role of the aforementioned father-in-law, while newcomers Dani Lockett and Dannah Lockett will represent the Thompson girls.

Thompson and SNL Lorne Michaels, the boss, will also be executive producer of the series, as will Andrew Singer (The two others). Jackie Clarke (Hypermarket), who wrote the pilot script, is also an EP.

But Thompson's days at Studio 8H are not over yet: NBC insider confirms Thompson – the oldest SNL Cast member, with 16 years to his credit – is back on the sketchfest next season, echoing what the actor said at a recent Ellen appearance.

"It's the best job in the world," he said. "I do not see myself leaving like that, even though I've been so busy." (Thompson is also about to produce a revival of All that, the sketch series of Nickelodeon where he debuted.)

On May 13, as NBC's presentation in Upfront approached, the network also ordered the release of the legal drama series. Bluff City Act, comedy of immigration Sunny side, drama of well-being Dad's Council and musical drama Zoey's amazing playlist.
