We first saw something tonight that we haven’t really seen in the past 12 years of the John Calipari era, an incredibly frustrated press conference.
Apparently known as a wizard when it comes to being behind a microphone, it seems that skill is gone completely.
After a last-second loss to the Georgia Bulldogs, Calipari has let off steam in post-season talks that he might regret.
“You start to lose, everyone has an answer,” Calipari said. “Not only do they try to bring in guys in and do different things, but all of a sudden you make them a couple.
Lots of shots fired at fans and media from a frustrated coach tonight.

Bluegrass fans have been making their thoughts and opinions known this season. Well folks, Cal heard them and at least made it seem like it was slipping away.
The first part of this quote is the most interesting part. One can only imagine that he is referring to the big change requested by all the fans, which was to remove BJ Boston from the starting lineup. But whatever he’s referring to, it doesn’t seem to suit him.
It’s no secret that this was possibly one of Calipari’s worst years as a coach in his Hall of Fame career.
Are any of these to be blamed on the restrictions COVID-19 has placed on the season and off-season? Absolutely.
Has he struggled to understand the adjustments he needs to make to fix this team? For sure.
There haven’t been any great looks for Cal this season, but calling the fans and the media is definitely not going to help everyone rally around this team.
“You can tell my frustration now, but I’m the coach, and I have a job to do, and I have to find ways to win games.”
We can only hope he finds a way, as things have gotten pretty bleak at an incredible rate for the Kentucky Wildcats.
