Kentucky Derby 2019: NEW PERSPECTIVES for Saturday at Churchill Downs: information at the last minute for bets, choice | Is the winner of the game still the favorite? Money Late on Improbable, Tacitus, Maximum Security, Roadster?

Sometimes it's a cliché to say that a sporting event is "as open as ever".

In the case of the 145th edition of the Kentucky Derby, that's right.

In recent years, a prohibitive favorite has emerged in the Derby. But after Omaha Beach was forced to scratch earlier in the week because of a breathing problem, the first leg of the Triple Crown, a thoroughbred race, became a mixture of horses tied.

This became evident on Friday night when the first insight into ever-changing Paris lines was unveiled.

Churchill Downs long-time drummer Mike Battaglia sets the initial numbers with his winning score, but the bettors ultimately decide which horse will hit the starting grid as a favorite.

And, yes, the punters differ from the morning rating, where Game Winner had been installed as a favorite after the scratching of Omaha Beach.

Friday night, three horses were co-favorites: Improbable, Tacitus and Maximum Security – all winning at 5 to 1 – the winner of the game at 6 to 1.

The Kentucky Derby is scheduled for Saturday, May 4 at 18:50. Eastern Time. NBC will cover the first leg of the Triple Crown with the Thoroughbred Race starting at 2.30pm. at 7:30 Eastern and live broadcast the event on NBC Sports Live.
