Kentucky Derby 2019 Predictions: Victory, Place, Choice of Show

Saturday is the 145th edition of the Kentucky Derby, and here are the choices of the Post Office staff in the Race to the Roses:

Vic Cangialosi

Maximum security: The undefeated colt should make sure of his place near or in the lead with Omaha Beach on the outside. Can he get the distance with Bob Baffert's trio? Yes.

Roadster: May be the best of Baffert's trio after defeating the winner of the Santa Derby derby match. The trainer stays at Geroux even though Mike Smith is now free to ride.

Winner of the game: Won every game at the age of 2, but has not won for two years this year. Tightly beaten in the Rebel and then SA Derby, he has however largely competed.

Debbie Little

Unlikely: The colt is one of three contenders trained by Bob Baffert, and the turn signals come off. Could give Jockey Irad Ortiz Jr., winner of the 2018 Eclipse Award, his first win in Derby, and a sixth win for Baffert would bring him closer to Ben Jones.

Maximum security: Party with the Florida Derby on a loose leash. On high speed ground, he could steal the race by giving coach Jason Servis and jockey Luis Saez their first win in Derby.

Tacit: Rushed to win the Wood Memorial after being struck at the start – and with a squad of 19 players, many clashes can occur in the Derby. Coach Bill Mott, who imposed his first Derby victory in 1984, could be given his first Derby victory.
