The 145th edition of the Kentucky Derby saw other changes Friday, the day before the "Most beautiful two minutes in the sport".
Another horse was officially stricken from training on Friday morning after a few days of speculation while a jockey is back in the race after his initial run was wiped off for health reasons.
Triple Crown winner on horseback
Mike Smith rose Justify at Triple Crown last year, becoming the oldest jockey to do so at 52. He had to ride on Omaha Beach until the favorite horse was scratched Wednesday afternoon due to a breathing problem. Surgery for the epiglottos trapped was performed on Thursday.
The jockey will now be driving Cutting Humour, a 30-1 shot that won the Sunland derby in March.
Corey Lanerie was announced Monday as a horse rider and will receive the same earnings as Smith if he passes.
Smith was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2003 and twice won the Kentucky Derby. He rode Giacomo, with a score of 50-1, to victory in 2005.

2nd scratched horse leaving 19
Haikal is officially stricken from the Kentucky Derby, according to an early morning press release by Churchill Downs.
Coach Kiaran McLaughlin announced Thursday morning that it was a possibility as Haikal had developed a left hoof abscess.
McLaughlin told the Louisville Courier-Journal:
"We gave him shoes this morning and made him run, but he was still not 100%. After talking with Rich Nichols (General Manager of Shadwell Farm, North America), we decided to scratch ourselves. The horse always comes first. "
The race will continue with 19 horses instead of the usual 20. They will keep their program numbers and go from doors 2 to 20.
The horses will definitely be on a wet track again this year. Weather forecasts predict a 100% chance of rain on Saturday.
