LATEST NEWS. Tomorrow’s game against Texas is off. Kentucky just announced that the game was canceled due to positive cases in the Kentucky program. Kentucky is now on a 48 hour hiatus. Here is the press release:
The Kentucky men’s basketball program has been put on a 48-hour hiatus, including the cancellation of Saturday’s game against Texas, due to a combination of positive testing, contact tracing and putting subsequent quarantine of people in the program. The decision is in line with the Southeastern Conference and UK Athletics COVID-19 COVID-19 management requirements.
SEC COVID-19 management requirements, as developed by the SEC’s Return-to-Activity and Medical Guidance Working Group, are available at SECsports.com (PDF). The health and safety of Wildcat student-athletes, coaches and staff remains UK Athletics’ # 1 priority.
UK ticket holders will receive further email communications, including if additional changes are made to the Kentucky schedule throughout the season. Given the unusual nature of this season – in particular, the current unknowns related to postponing or replacing canceled matches – UK Athletics values the continued support, flexibility and understanding of its ticket holders. For canceled and not rescheduled matches, UK Athletics will assess credit and refund options for the ticket portion of the payment at the end of the season.
It’s the first cancellation of the season for Kentucky. The UK’s previously scheduled games against Detroit Mercy and South Carolina have been postponed due to COVID-19 security protocols within those schedules. The catch-up dates for these games have not been determined.
