The strict conditions imposed by the High Court on the scandals of the National Youth Service (NYS) appear to have hit many officials in pre-trial detention because they can not obtain bail or bail to secure their release.
Up to now, 30 people have been released after meeting the conditions imposed by Judge Hedwig Ong's udi last month. Most of them however are senior officials and businessmen involved in the scandal.

NYS staff reportedly collected food and signed backdated issue notes and false requisitions. The prosecution alleges that no purchase was made before the millions of shillings were paid.
Neither was it easy for the Ngirita family since no parent has been released to date. The parents, who have reportedly received millions of NYS, include their mother Lucy Wambui, her daughters Ann Wanjiku Wambere Ngirita and Phyllis Njeri Ngirita, Jeremiah Gichini Ngirita and his wife Catherine Wanjiku Mwai.
