Ginger emoji make their entry on the iPhone for the first time
The red-headed characters were announced today as part of a batch of 70 new emoji unveiled by Apple to celebrate World Emoji Day.
Gray hairy, bald and curly hair characters are joined by several new animals including a lobster, a kangaroo, a parrot and a peabad.
Other highlights include new smileys, with a cold face, a fictitious face and a face with hearts.
The new batch of characters will be deployed on Apple devices around the world later this year as part of a free iOS software update, confirmed the Cupertino-based company.
Healthy eaters will be delighted to see a selection of new fruits and vegetables available in the latest update, including a mango and lettuce.
Apple also added a number of sweeter items, such as a cupcake and moon cake – a traditional Chinese dessert.
