Preparations for the exhibition of the Nakuru Agricultural Society of Kenya (ASK) begins this Wednesday Already, more than 130 exhibitors have registered and confirmed their participation in the event whose theme is "Promoting Innovation in Technology and Trade".
According to the president of the ASK, Margaret Anami, this year's show created, mainly for young people, in the agricultural sector.
"We are focused on updating this year's theme and we are certain that we will get there by exhibitors who have shown interest," Ms. Anami said. She noted that among the areas of interest, there is training of farmers in the management of army worms in autumn that has led to serious crop losses in the agricultural sector.
President Uhuru Kenyatta is scheduled to open the show on Friday.
"We are waiting for the county commissioner to officially open the show on Wednesday and Governor Lee Kinyanjui will attend the show on Thursday," said Anami.
Other guests expected at the show are Uasin Governor Gishu Jackson Mandago and Senator Nakuru Susan Kihika.
"We encourage inter-county programs where we Ms. Anami also revealed that several meetings were held with senior security officers in Nakuru to ensure the safety of exhibitors and guests.
Bernard Ateng, director of the ASK section noted that the number of attendees exceeded the last year when the show attracted 115 exhibitors.
"Last year being an election year, we had [fewer] exhibitors but this year we hope to reach our target of 150 exhibitors "said Mr. Ateng & A."
Some of the new entries in this year's show include agro-industrial organizations, manufacturers , institutions of higher education, parastatals, and regulators.
