BAT half-year profit rises 3.39 pc

British American Tobacco Kenya #ticker: BAT has reported a 3.39 per cent rise in net profit in the half year ended June, buoyed by higher sales and lower costs.

The company made a net profit of Sh2 trillion in the period compared to Sh1.94 trillion a year earlier as sales rose 1.93 per cent to Sh17.4 trillion.

The Nairobi Securities Exchange-listed firm declared interim dividend of Sh3.5 per share, same as for the previous year.

The company says its sales rose to incremental pricing and distribution expansion initiatives.
