First Kenyan woman named Major General as new KDF commanders unveiled :: Kenya

President Uhuru Kenyatta attended Friday the inauguration of the new Kenya High Command Defense Forces (KDF) recently appointed by the Kenya Defense Council.

Among the newly appointed commanders, Major General Fatuma Ahmed, the first female Kenyan soldier to reach this rank, is the new Deputy Chief of Defense Forces in charge of personnel and logistics.

Addressing the High Military Command at the end of the inauguration ceremony, President Kenyatta congratulated the commanders for their appointments, declaring that he looks forward to working with them to strengthen the the capacity of the KDF to continue to fulfill its mandate.

"I take this opportunity to congratulate the new Gen VCDF Gen Kibochi, you had a brilliant career in the army and I look forward to using you the skills and vast experience you have acquired to your new role serving the KDF as the VCDF, "he said.

. It is my pride and joy to witness the unveiling of the first Kenyan woman as a major-general in the history of our country. Ahmed thanked the president for the opportunity to serve in his new role saying that it is an honor for all Kenyans. "I am very pleased with this new appointment because it shows that the president values ​​the contribution of women to the development of our great nation," she said.
