NAIROBI, KENYA: Governor Sospeter Ojaamong and three other Busia County officials pleaded not guilty to fraud and abuse of office.
The governor and the three officials appeared before Douglas Ogoti, chief justice of the fight against corruption, where they denied the accusations
In a statement, the DPP Haji recommended the arrest of Ojaamong for unilaterally signing a protocol agreement with Mrs. R Enterprise for solid waste management services that led to the loss of 8 million shillings.
DPP wants Ojaamong to be charged with conspiracy to commit economic crime and abuse of power.
Ojaamong argues that Sh8 million paid to Mrs. R Enterprise after the county reached an agreement with the first to take over the solid waste management and pay the occasional cleaners is not lost.
