The Huawei Y5 Prime, Huawei Mobile's latest smartphone in Kenya, is now available for pre-order across the country.
This comes after Huawei realized a week-long price competition with online device launch partner, retailer Jumia Kenya, which will see those who have correctly guessed the appliance price rewarded with Chinese brand products.
According to Huawei, the 2018 Y5 Prime will cost 9,999 Kshs.
This places it in the context of the Android T-Go Tecno Spark 2 which costs 11,299 Kshs on the same online platform, Jumia. Another device available on Jumia, the Xiaomi Redmi 5A, goes for the same Kshs 9,999.
Online (on Jumia), the pre-order period runs today, from Monday 9 July to Thursday 12 July after which the device will be available for purchase for everyone. Offline, at retail stores across the country, the pre-order period runs from today until Sunday, July 15 before the availability of the device the following Monday.
The device does not have a fingerprint sensor but should ideally have an unlock feature (we can not check the availability of the feature, however).
"The Huawei Y5 Prime 2018 is designed especially for younger generations in search of a big, stylish screen and features a larger RAM" Huawei Kenya announcing the availability of the pre-order of the Device
I have the device for the review, so pay attention to my thoughts in the coming days
