The International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) confirmed the participation of Nigerian Aruna Quadri alongside 19 others for the 2018 Men's World Cup in Paris, France

Quadri, the men's seed at Challenge ITTF 2018 Nigeria Open, was among the top 20 players listed by the ITTF for the tournament which took place from 19 to 21 October.

He had missed the prestigious tournament following his 3-4 loss to Egyptian Omar Assar at the 2018 Top 16 Africa Cup in Kenya earlier in the year, but the Nigerian had to rely on its world ranking to make the final list for the tournament.

In an invitation signed by Zena Sim, head of the World Cup and the ITTF Challenge, the governing body of world tennis said Quadri's qualification was based on its July ITTF ranking.

"On behalf of the ITTF Quadri Aruna will participate in the 2018 Liebherr Masculine World Cup in Paris from 19 to 21 October. Quadri is qualified on the basis of his status as the 2nd Africa Cup 2018 (after taking into consideration the July World Ranking), "said Sim., 19659002] For his part, Quadri said that his invitation was the reward of hard work.

"After losing the ITTF Africa Top 16 Cup to Kenya, I did not sleep because I knew it was still possible to qualify by the world rankings but I have to work hard for that.

that my qualification for the round of 32 in Qatar and Germany as well as some of my important victories in Sweden at the world championship were enough to guarantee me a place in France. I am very happy and excited that I finally did it and the mission is accomplished. The beautiful show that I presented at the Hong Kong Open was also sufficient, "said Quadri.

Egyptian Egypt's Omar Assar as well as the Chinese duo Ma Long and Fan Zhendong figure also on the Men's World Cup list: Brazilian Hugo Calderano and Gustavo Tsuboi, German Timo Boll and Dimitrij Ovtcharov, LEE Sangsu and JEONG Sangeun from South Korea, Simon Gauzy and LEBESSON Emmanuel from France; Japan's Niwa Koki and HARIMOTO Tomokazu, KARLSSON Mattias of Sweden, Vladimir Samsonov of Belarus, WONG Chun Ting of Hong Kong, Jonathan Groth of Denmark, Khanak Jha of the United States and HU Heming of Australia
