KT complete building network ID data center in Tanzania

South Korea's KT Corp. said Monday it has successfully built the data center for network identification and related facilities in Tanzania in partnership with Samsung C & T Corp.

KT and Samsung C & T won the 52.6 billion won ($ 46.4 million) project from the Tanzanian authorities in 2015.

Under the project, KT was in charge of building IT systems and related infrastructure at main data center, backup center NID, the automated fingerprint identification system (AFIS), network control system and related website.

Following the completion of the data center construction, the Korean company will operate and maintain the facilities until June 2020, the company said.

It will also accelerate its other IT projects in Africa. It has won projects to build fiber optic cable for Gabon, giga wire solutions and FTTH high-speed internet system for Botswana and security network for Angola.

With the completion of the new ID and related facilities, the Tanzanian government will be able to speed up the NID project.
