Legislators investigating the sugar scandal of several billion shillings deferred yesterday and threatened to file a dissenting report in Parliament.
MPs who polled the saga for nearly a month were now divided as to how to proceed with their final report after state agencies deferred on whether sugar reviewed had traces of heavy metals including mercury.
The committee was divided into three groups that defended their own interests, including one that suggested the hiring of an independent tester to conduct new studies on impounded sugar. It is after two other groups have not agreed to whether the team should draft its report based on current evidence or wait for the Chemical Government representative to appear before them.
