NAIROBI, KENYA: President Uhuru Kenyatta decided to stop wasting public resources by stopping new projects.
The president on Thursday ordered all government officials to suspend new government projects until the current ones are complete.

The president issued the directive to all government officials who warned that they would be held accountable for approving new projects without the express permission of the national treasury .
"There will be no new projects that will be undertaken until we have completed those that are under way," said the president at the Kenyatta International Convention Center, where he spoke at a meeting. meeting bringing together all the accounting officials, including the principal secretaries. Parastatal chiefs, vice-chancellors of public universities and presidents of state-owned companies.
The president said that projects that could be freeze free will only be those that are directly aligned with the Big Four Agenda, but even then there must be a written authorization from the National Treasury.
"Even though new projects are aligned on the big four, they can not be launched without the express permission of CS or PS National Treasury," Uhuru said.
He warned that government officials are embarking on new projects. unauthorized initiatives will be held accountable.
At the same time, President Uhuru announced that the government would soon launch a new Internet portal where all purchases would be announced.
The president said that all government procurement, bidding and contracts will be announced on the portal to create transparency to protect public resources against theft.
