Study Reveals Nearly Half of Application Installations Relocated – Mobile Marketing

Tune researchers found that 42% of the application installations are actually reinstalled, and that in some categories, up to 75% of the application installations are actually relocations. Almost all smartphone owners (98%) have reinstalled an app, 40% are reinstalling apps weekly or monthly, and if you're wondering if the percentages are the same for iOS and Android users, the answer is no.

About 47% of iOS users have reinstalled an app while 37% of Android users have reinstalled. Productivity, social networking and travel applications are the most likely to be installed and reinstalled.

The researchers also discovered that space is not the single problem that causes mobile consumers to remove and then reinstall an application. While just under 300 users said that they're uninstalling and reinstalling apps due to space issues, just over 350 users said they've installed and reinstalled just to 'give a another chance to an application ".

By the way, these space issues also do not depend on consumers in emerging countries whose phones are less well equipped and have problems with space. The researchers found that about a third of consumer-downloaded apps in North America are reinstalled, with 45% of Dutch consumers reinstalling apps. Nearly a third of Indian consumers are reinstalling applications and Chinese mobile users are reinstalling at a rate of about 58%.
