TECH BREAK: Is the Nokia 6.1 a phone you can count on?

Coming back, Nokia does a pretty impressive job after missing out on the action in the smartphone industry for a while. The manufacturer has launched a series of devices including the 6.0, a nice device with great specifications.

Today, I check the Nokia 6.1, a device that Nokia has a "phone you can count on". So, can you? Well, let's look!

DESIGN
The Nokia 6.1 is one of the most aesthetic smartphones that I have tested in 2018, hand on heart. It feels very sturdy with a very good anti-fingerprint coating on the back (bi-color anodizing technology). Nokia manufactures each back cover and chbadis from a single block of aluminum in a unibody design.

The full-HD 5.5-inch display is protected by a Corning Gorilla Glbad 3 with flawless color accuracy and brightness.

My favorite thing about this LCD display panel is the near-real black that it produces more expensive AMOLED panels realize. The back side spots the camera hump and the fingerprint scanner.

But it is not flawless. The fingerprint scanner was a key concern for me, the indentation is very shallow and so it is difficult to locate it quickly and easily. It is also positioned lower than expected.

I have the impression that HMD could have made the glbades a bit thinner on this version. We are in 2018, everyone gets rid of glbades.

Copper accents around the camera add an extra touch of glamor, but, as I've learned, this disappears after a while, especially around the camera hump.

PERFORMANCE
The Nokia 6.1 is powered by Qualcomm's 630 octa-core snapdragon processor. This is an important upgrade of the Snapdragon 430 in the Nokia 6.0.

The included RAM is 3GB, so the same size as the Nokia 6.0 except that this version has faster speeds since it is a LPDDR RAM 4. The available 32GB internal storage can be expanded at 128 GB via an SD card.

The device draws its energy from a 3000 mAh battery, the same size as the previous model. The battery consumption is excellent. the device can run a whole day without requiring recharging during normal use.
