Busia Finance Director Leonard Obimbira was arrested yesterday by officials of the Ethical and Anti-Corruption Commission at his home in Magoye, Budalang,
Obimbira is one of five officials charged with proceedings irregularities in the award of contracts.
The EACC arrived in six vehicles, stormed his house and took him away.
Business in the county was disrupted following the arrest of Governor Sospeter Ojaamong for abuse of office. Deputy Governor Moses Mulomi runs the county. An audit by the star at the county seat showed that the usually busy office is quiet.
The county's senior officials met yesterday at the governor's office. The agenda was not revealed to reporters. Efforts to get Mulomi's comments were in vain.
When asked what the meeting was about, the governor's communications director, Winston Mbanda, said they were discussing "normal government operations"
