Hiura, 22, was the ninth overall pick of the Brewers in the 2017 draft at the University of California at Irvine. He hits .333 with 1,106 OPS for Triple-A San Antonio this year, his first experience at this level. He played 11 circuits in 147 selections, equaling fourth place in Triple-A.

Entering the season, the Brewers announced that Mike Moustakas would play second base, although he never held that position before. He started the majority of his team's games there, with Hernan Perez as well. Moustakas had a good start with 10 homers and a .528 loss percentage, but the team struggled in their main position, the third goal, played mainly by Travis Shaw.
