This is the suggestion of Frank Isola of The Athletic, who reports that Durant wants to "escape the shadow of Stephen Curry."

The Lakers were also mentioned as a possible destination for the NBA Finals' most valuable double player.
They have the ceiling available to offer Durant a maximum contract and link him to James as well as the possibility that Anthony Davis will immediately make these titles the favorites of the Lakers title.
However, Isola believes that Durant would only leave the Warriors if he managed to be the main superstar of this team and was excluded from the opportunity to join the Lakers.
"The black horse is the Los Angeles Lakers, who attacked Paul George and Leonard last summer and failed to acquire Davis before the trading deadline," wrote Isola.
"The feeling is that if Durant had to leave the Warriors, he would do it to escape Stephen Curry's shadow.
"So joining LeBron in LA does not make sense."
Golden State has repeatedly said that it is ready to offer what it wants to Durant this summer.
But Isola reports that the Warriors do not know if the 31-year-old wants to stay or leave.
"We have no idea what he's going to do," Isola told a source from the team.
"Everyone wants him to stay. We can not sell it anymore.
"If he leaves, we'll think he's lucky to have it for three great years."
