Kevin Feige explains why they chose Evan Peters’ Quicksilver over Aaron Taylor-Johnson

One of Marvel’s biggest surprises WandaVision was the arrival of Pietro Maximoff in the fifth episode, “On a Very Special Episode …” played not by Aaron Taylor-Johnson as the character was in Avengers: Age of Ultron, but by Evan Peters, the actor who brought Quicksilver to life in the X-Men movies. It has since been revealed that this “Pietro” might not be the real deal – last week’s episode revealed that Agnes (Kathryn Hahn) really is Agatha Harkness and has been pulling the strings from the start – and it turns out that’s part of the reason the show went with Peters rather than Taylor-Johnson.

During the Disney + TCA presentation on Wednesday, Marvel Studios director Kevin Feige said the decision to bring in Peters rather than Taylor-Johnson came fairly early in the development process and then explained that it all made up for it. part of how “some people” bothered Wanda.

“It’s one of the fun things about developing these things or skiing them blue in rooms,” Feige said (via The Wrap). “My favorite part of the process is always the whole, the very beginning when we determine what something could be and at the very end when we refine it and bring it into the world. So there were all kinds. much discussion, but I think we’ve come to terms with what you saw quite early in the development process. It’s just another way some people have played with Wanda. “

And last week’s “Breaking the Fourth Wall”, the seventh episode of the series, revealed that someone was indeed playing with Wanda (Elizabeth Olsen) and using “Pietro” to do so. The episode saw Agnes reveal herself to be Agatha, and a montage showed viewers how it had been “Agatha all along” with a catchy theme song – a theme song that spawned numerous covers and remixes from creative fans. Of course, there are still plenty of theories to suggest that Agatha may not be WandaVision’s ultimate big villain. Many theories suggest that Mephisto or Nightmare could still be behind it all and even some theories that Quicksilver could in fact be Chthon. Fans will just have to wait until the last two episodes to find out.

The first seven episodes of WandaVision now broadcast on Disney +.
