Kevin Feige hints at Julia Louis-Dreyfus’ return to the MCU

It’s no secret that the public can expect to see Florence pugh Yelena in the next one Hawk Eye series, but could Contessa Valentina Allegra de la Fontaine also appear? It would make perfect sense from the Black Widow post-credit scene and a recent interview with the president of Marvel Studios Kevin feige seems to suggest that we haven’t seen the last of the Contessa yet.

Julia Louis-Dreyfus debuted in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier when she came out of nowhere to recruit the disgraced John Walker (Wyatt russell), but in a recent episode of the D23 inside Disney podcast, Feige confirmed what we all know and said it wasn’t meant to be her first public introduction. “Initially, Val was supposed to be introduced in the tag of Black Widow. ”

While things have changed due to the pandemic last year, as Feige puts it:

“Actually, it didn’t change anything based on where you first met her. She was always going to be a mysterious figure, played by Julia Louis-Dreyfus, who stepped in out of nowhere. We originally planned for it to be in Black Widow instead of [The] Falcon [and The Winter Soldier]. ”

The post-credit scene in Black Widow made it clear that Yelena already has a working relationship with Val, but what exactly is Val’s endgame? As Feige paused before revealing his exact plans, he teased the future:

She’s doing something. She is in recruiting mode. Is Yelena already working for her? They seem to have a connection at this point.

Fans weren’t the only ones excited about legendary Julia Louis-Dreyfus joining the MCU, as Feige discussed how long they’ve been planning to bring her into the universe:

“The future is bright for the MCU because Julia Louis-Dreyfus is one of them. We’re huge fans of her at Marvel. […] The idea of bringing her into the world has always been something, if we could find the right thing, we wanted to do it. When this role was born and the opportunity to have it in [Black] Widow, in [The] Falcon [and The Winter Soldier], and maybe in other things to come… ”

While Feige didn’t explicitly say when fans could expect to see Valentina again, he seemed to expect fans to be surprised with her next cameo. As she did not appear at the end of Loki this week and it seems unlikely that she will appear in The Eternals or Shang-Chi and the legend of the ten rings, there’s a good chance she’ll have a role in Marvel’s next big live-action series – Hawk Eye.
