Kevin Hart, who suffered serious injuries earlier this month when his car hit an embankment in Calabasas, was released from the Los Angeles hospital, according to TMZ.

The news and entertainment agency announced Thursday that the actor and comedian had been transferred to a drug rehabilitation center where he would undergo rigorous physical therapy to recover from his surgery and the three fractures of the spine he had suffered.

Hart, 40, was in the front passenger seat when his 1970s Plymouth Barracuda hit an embankment just before 1am on September 1st on Mulholland Highway in Calabasas.

Hart and the driver, Jared Black, 28, of Woodland Hills, were seriously injured and were taken to various hospitals. The third passenger, a 31-year-old woman from Woodland Hills, was slightly injured. The California Highway Patrol stated that Black was not under the influence of alcohol when he lost control of the car.

Hart has just bought the restored car – which according to the SpeedCore seller could deliver 720 horsepower – in July. He loved classic rides for a while. He reportedly paid half a million dollars worth of muscle cars to his crew when his "Irresponsible" tour ended in December.

Following the announcement of the accident, Nicole Kidman, Bryan Cranston, Dwayne Johnson, Mindy Kaling and other high profile celebrities sent Mr. Hart a wave of support on social media wishing him a prompt recovery.

A representative from Hart was not immediately available to respond to the Times request for comment.
