Kevin James didn’t weigh in on AMC’s buzzing new series Kevin Can F ** k himself… until now.
It was first reported in November 2018 that AMC was in development on the ostensibly titled dramatic comedy, just months after CBS pulled the listing for James’ sitcom. Kevin can wait. Also publicized, Kevin can wait underwent a major overhaul between seasons 1 and 2 that saw original actor Erinn Hayes let go. She was replaced by the old one from James King of queens costar Leah Remini, which caused the ratings to drop sharply and the series to be canceled quickly.
(Neither AMC nor the producers of Kevin Can F ** k himself explicitly said the show is a riff on James’ sitcom.)
Kevin Can F ** k himself, set to debut on AMC later this year, is told from the perspective of a sitcom woman (played by Schitt Creek thief of scenes Annie Murphy), and alternates between single-camera realism and multi-camera comedy.
When asked about the title, James looked really tickled. “I think if they can use me to do their show, and it’s a great show, God bless them,” he said. “Good for them.”
Kevin Can F ** k himself, which will consist of eight one-hour episodes, was created by Valerie Armstrong (Lodge 49) and executive producers Rashida Jones and Will McCormack. Craig DiGregorio (Shrill, workaholics) will serve as the showrunner.
James, meanwhile, can then be seen in the face Bridgertonby Freddie Stroma in Netflix The crew, a new sitcom in the world of NASCAR. The 10 episodes fall on Monday February 15; watch the trailer here.
