He’ll read Seuss here or there, he’ll read it anywhere.
Minority House Leader Kevin McCarthy polishes warriors of cancellation culture with a heartfelt read of Dr. Seuss’ classic “Green Eggs and Ham” on Twitter.
“I still love Dr. Seuss, so I decided to read Green Eggs and Ham,” the Californian Republican wrote on friday night, inviting viewers to “RT if you still like it too!”
The post accompanied a five-minute video of McCarthy solemnly introducing the beloved book and its looping rhyming tale of Sam-I-am and his unappetizing food creation.
Just days after the announcement, six of Seuss best-selling children’s books will no longer be published due to alleged racism in their pages.
Sales of all six books – “If I ran the Zoo”, “And think I saw it on Mulberry Street”, “McElligot’s Pool”, “On Beyond Zebra !,” “Scrambled Eggs Super!” and “The Cat’s Quizzer” – soared after the announcement, and online auction site eBay canceled sales of vintage copies after starting to sell for hundreds of dollars each.
As of Saturday morning, Seuss fans had given McCarthy’s video 2.6 million views on Twitter – and nearly 10,000 retweets.
