It was story time with Minority House Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) On Friday when he posted a five-minute video of himself reading a book by Dr. Seuss.

But reading below left many on Twitter confused as to how much the top House Republican was actually trying to argue.

Dr Seuss Enterprises’ decision to remove six books containing obsolete and racist images angered GOP lawmakers and Fox News figures this week, with many falsely blaming the private firm’s decision to stop publishing on Democrats and President Joe Biden.

With his video, McCarthy appeared to join the criticism. But critics pointed out that he had read “Green Eggs and Ham” – which is not one of the books that was pulled.

CNN’s Don Lemon couldn’t quite believe the stunt of ex-President Donald Trump’s key ally, who voted to overturn the 2020 election result.

“While Americans are desperate to get vaccinated and desperate to get relief from COVID. Here’s what Kevin McCarthy is doing right now, ”the“ CNN Tonight ”host said Friday night.

“It really happened. These are your Republican leaders, ”he added, criticizing McCarthy for having nothing better to do than“ stir up this false scandal ”.

“It has nothing to do with Democrats, nothing at all,” Lemon continued. “And that one from Dr. Seuss is still in distribution, so none of that makes sense.” They play you. Are you going to crack?
