As everyone focuses on competing chicken sandwiches, has a cheese macaroni battle slowly developed in the world of fast food?
KFC has announced a new addition to its menu: the Mac and Cheese Bowl (which looks like their famous bowls, only with macaroni and cheese instead of mashed potatoes and corn).
Starting August 26, customers will be able to purchase Mac and Cheese Bowls from KFC. Depending on the restaurant, the bowls will combine macaroni and cheese with the popular popcorn chicken in the chain.
"This time-limited dish is KFC's latest food innovation," said a spokesperson, "combining KFC's rich and creamy macaroni with cream cheese, topped with crispy KFC popcorn chicken and sprinkled with Three-Cheese Mix The new menu item comes in a spicy version with KFC's Nashville Hot Smoked Sauce and Smoke. "

This comes right after the cheesy announcement of Chick-fil-A. Earlier this month, the fast food chain added macaroni and cheese to its nationwide permanent menu, the first addition of this type since 2016.

"Macaroni and Cheese is the comforting food par excellence and we are delighted to offer our guests at Chick-fil-A. We think it's the perfect match for our Original Chicken Sandwich, our nuggets and our grilled chicken offer, but it's also a great snack, "said Amanda Norris, Executive Director, Menu & Packaging .
Although the addition made the headlines, it seems that everyone was not happy. At the time, Boston Market tweeted a message apparently meant for Chick-fil-A. The fast-casual chain tweeted, "Customer: Can I get something like Boston Market Cheese Macaroni but mediocre? Other guys: it makes me happy.

While all this cheesy drama unfolded, Chick-fil-A and Popeye's had a brief spitting Twitter on their chicken sandwiches. Wendy's even joined, insinuating that they have the best chicken sandwich.
Things are heating up in the chicken sandwich and accompaniments sector.
