A little over a week ago, Conor McGregor announced his retirement from the "sport officially known as the mixed martial art". Theories have been formulated as to why "The Notorious" made this decision, but many of his comrade fighters refuse to take it seriously.
McGregor has recently been active on Twitter, insulting his rival Khabib Nurmagomedov. The tirade trade had become tough, even UFC President Dana White pointed out that the divide between the two had already escalated to an unacceptable level.
Khabib went on social media to warn McGregor of his statements towards Islam.
On Wednesday night, the Irish fighter again posted a captivating tweet, this time apparently backing off his previous insults against religion and hinting that he was coming out of his declared retirement.
I want to move forward, with my fans of all religions and all walks of life.
All denominations challenge us to be our best selves.
It's a world and one for all
We see ourselves now in the octagon.– Conor McGregor (@TheNotoriousMMA) April 4, 2019
Prior to the announcement of his retirement, McGregor had told Jimmy Fallon that a fight was taking place in July for him, but that the negotiations were hampered by "politics". Talks on a possible fight against Donald Cerrone were initially defined but ultimately failed due to contractual disagreements.
