Here’s a real kick in the shin: Chances are the 9/11 mastermind Khalid Sheikh Mohammed will get the COVID vaccine before you do.
Accused terrorist brains like KSM and other detainees at Guantanamo Bay will begin receiving the coronavirus vaccine, the Pentagon confirmed on Friday, even as the United States continues to experience severe shortages of miracle coupons.
A Defense Ministry spokesperson confirmed officials had signed an order that will see COVID-19 vaccinations “offered to all detainees and prisoners.”
The blows could be given as early as next week.
“It will be administered on a voluntary basis and in accordance with the Department’s priority distribution plan,” spokesman Michael Howard told The Post.
Forty inmates remain at the US military prison in Cuba, including the man accused of plotting the worst attack on US soil, which claimed the lives of 2,977 innocent people on September 11, 2001, and has since been linked to thousands more dead.
The order was signed on Jan. 27 by Terry Adirim, the senior deputy assistant secretary of defense for health affairs, who was sworn in as a person appointed by Biden on the day of the inauguration, a Pentagon spokesperson.
The move immediately sparked outrage among New Yorkers who survived and helped bring New York back from its darkest day.
“You can’t make it up. The ridiculousness of what we get from our government. They will distribute the vaccine to those weak lives at Guantanamo Bay before every resident of the United States of America gets it, this is the scene of the absurd, ”said Tom Von Essen, who was Fire Marshal of the city during 9/11 and lost 343 firefighters on 9/11.
“It’s crazy,” he said of the KSM vaccine before most Americans could.
John Feal, a post-attack Ground Zero pile demolition supervisor who suffers from various 9/11-related illnesses and has yet to receive the vaccine, was stunned by the news.
“The fact that the 9/11 community cannot get vaccinated and that terrorists can show how backward our government is,” he told The Post. “It’s the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever heard. It’s an insult to the people who have run around the towers and been killed and those who have worked on the pile for months and are sick.
The average 9/11 respondent was 38 at the time and is now 58 to 59 years old, below the cutoff to get the shot in New York City, said Feal, who heads the Feal Good Foundation, an advocacy group 9/11 stakeholders and who helped push Congress to permanently extend the 9/11 Compensation Fund.
Brian Sullivan, a retired Federal Aviation Administration special safety officer, said, “I’m pissed off. It is totally scandalous. I am 75 years old. I did not receive my COVID vaccine. Are they going to give him Khalid Sheikh Mohammed?
Sullivan added that it is a scandal that terrorists have not faced justice as the 20th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks approaches. “This news adds insult to injury. It is a slap in the face to the families of the 9/11 victims, ”Sullivan said.
“This year will be the 20th anniversary and the terrorists are still in Guantanamo. And now we’re going to give them the COVID vaccine. It’s just crazy.
Two other men, accused of being complicit in the 2002 Bali nightclub bombings that killed 202 people, are also said to be in line to obtain the vaccines under the orders of the Defense Ministry.
The Pentagon move comes as states like New York complain their cupboards are empty, forcing them to cancel a mass vaccination program, and the Biden administration warns that jab shortages will last until 2021.
On Tuesday, The Post revealed that thousands of New York City teachers had their COVID-19 vaccine appointments canceled due to declining supply and scheduling.
“It is inexcusable and anti-American that President Biden chooses to prioritize terrorists convicted in Gitmo over the elderly or vulnerable American veterans,” said Representative Elise Stefanik (R-NY).
Lt. Michael O’Connell, retired from the FDNY, was working on search and rescue when the towers fell. This left him with sarcoidosis, an autoimmune disease.
“It’s a real kick in the balls. It is very upsetting. It’s absolutely disgusting, ”he said of the Gitmo vaccination order.
“These terrorists have done damage, but it’s the patriots who have to wait to get vaccinated. We responded within 10 seconds of the first plane crashing into the building. Here we are a year later [since the COVID-19 outbreak] and politicians can’t do it right with the coronavirus vaccine.
