Kia HabaNiro is a futuristic mashup of what is popular right now

Kia HabaNiro is the automaker's latest initiative for a more compact electric future. It's a crossroads. It's a compact car. On the road, off the road … it's like a Swiss knife with futuristic features, wild design and bold claims of capability – a concept car par excellence that offers a bit of everything.

Four fully electric four-wheel drive the car is a marveled child. It has a planned range of 300 miles and is said to be able to easily navigate the city streets and off-road trails. Its butterfly doors open to reveal a "lava-red" interior that, honestly, looks pretty cool.

The amount of what will be achieved in one of Kia's real cars remains to be determined.

In her press release, Kia warned that the HabaNiro would remain forever a fiction: "… the butterfly gates of HabaNiro? Maybe not today, but the future is an exciting place and Kia is ready to lead the automotive industry to this world of thorny possibilities. "

Kia imagines that this car would have its own autonomous mode, in which the driver could literally give full control to the car. The windshield can be both a head-up display and a television, so that the driver can relax completely while watching television.

I can not say that the HabaNiro does not have great features – its position lights pulsate like a heartbeat and do not need mirrors through external cameras. The touch screen encompasses most of the dashboard and the information can be swept from the driver to the passenger or the windshield. I would like to see some of HabaNiro's ergonomic concepts adapt to production models, mainly these easily navigable touch screens. Some of them – like the biometric scanning technology that reads all the driver's emotions and changes the routes or driving patterns accordingly – I can get by.

Aside from its incredible name, HabaNiro is the story we've all heard before: an over-sized concept that can do anything and change the world by reducing emissions and fuel consumption, but it's not going to be built.
