Divorce papers, which were filed on Kim’s behalf on February 22, cited “ irreconcilable differences ” as the reason for the celebrity couple’s split.
The date of their separation remains to be determined in the eyes of the court. The separation date can become a point of contention when dividing up assets, but Kim and Kanye have a prenuptial agreement in place that should govern the matter.

Kim and Kanye have decided to go their own way after nine years together
The divorce petition, according to Entertainment Tonight, reveals that Kim is seeking joint and legal custody of the couple’s four children.
She is also asking that spousal support be canceled as an option for either party to the divorce.
“ The split is amicable and there is no drama, ” an insider told DailyMail.com after the divorce was made public.
Money is not a problem, as Kim is worth almost $ 800 million from his various makeup and beauty products, while Kanye is worth around $ 1.3 billion.
Tension between Kanye and Kim began to build in July when Kanye decided to run for president.

During this campaign, an increasingly erratic Kanye called Kris Jenner “ Kris Jong Un ” and complained about wanting his wife to have an abortion earlier in their marriage.
Kanye and Kim started dating in 2012 and got engaged in 2013 before tying the knot in a lavish ceremony in May 2014.
The divorce is the first for West and the third for Kim, who was previously married to Damon Thomas from 2000 to 2004 and Kris Humphries from 2011 to 2013.
In recent months, the kids have mostly been seen with Kim in Hidden Hills, Calif., Where the family owns a $ 60 million mansion.
Meanwhile, there’s a ranch in Cody, Wyoming, where Kanye stayed while the former couple worked on the property division.
Kim reportedly stopped wearing her wedding ring in November. She and Kanye went to marriage counseling to try and work things out, but it wasn’t enough to prevent a divorce in the end.
The two have had little contact since October when they quarreled during his 40th birthday party at the Brando Resort in Polynesia.

On Tuesday, Kim arrived in town as a single woman for the first time, traveling to Beverly Hills hotspot Matsuhisa with her sister Kourtney and a few friends.
Kim is represented by renowned divorce lawyer Laura Wasser in the legal proceedings.
The Sunday Mirror reported that the final season of Keeping Up With the Kardashians will likely document the divorce.
He could also be part of a new Hulu series in the works with the Kardashians.
