Whose house? It’s my house.

Kim Kardashian, as part of her divorce from Kanye West, will keep the 15,000 square foot Southern California mansion the former couple bought in 2014, TMZ reported.

Kardashian and West shelled out $ 20 million for the spread, located in Hidden Hills, and then sunk an additional $ 20 million in a massive renovation that West himself allegedly led.

TMZ noted that the ruling allows the former couple’s four children – North, 7; Saint, 5; Chicago, 3 years old; and Psalm, 1 – to stay in the only house they’ve ever known. Kardashian said she loves the house and has most of her family within a block.

Kanye, meanwhile, would not have many ties to the exclusive enclave. He’s also been spending a lot of time in Wyoming recently after buying a 9,000-acre ranch in Cowboy State in 2019. It’s unclear where he will permanently reside after the divorce, which is said to be amicable – and for which Kardashian is seeking joint legal and physical custody of the children.

In the upscale neighborhood, located in the Santa Monica Mountains north of Los Angeles, the home designed by Alex Vervoordt of the former couple received a cover in Architectural Digest in March 2020. It was notably marked by absolute minimalism in design.

“We didn’t talk about decoration but some kind of philosophy about how we live now and how we will live in the future,” Vervoordt told AD.

That philosophy is wabi-sabi, a long-standing mark of Japanese design that promotes “wisdom in natural simplicity”. This resulted in minimal furniture, natural materials, and rooms covered in off-white plaster, which social media critics called not only “cold and scary” but also impractical with children.
