The cost of toilet paper and other baby products is on the rise, and consumers should expect higher prices.

Kimberly-Clark Corporation, the maker of Scott, Cottonelle and Viva, on Wednesday announced its plan to raise prices “in the majority of its consumer products business in North America.”

“The increases will be implemented almost entirely through changes in list prices and are necessary to help offset significant inflation in raw material costs,” the company said in a statement.
The percentages of the increase will be in the “mid to high single digit numbers” and will come by the end of June, according to the company. Baby and child care, adult care and Scott toilet paper will also be affected by the increase.
Last week, reports began to circulate that products, including toilet paper, could face shortages due to the colossal container ship, the Ever Given, stranded for nearly a week in the Suez Canal.
This caused a traffic jam with hundreds of ships, holding billions of goods, supporting looming shortages for American consumers.

Toilet paper, in particular, already faced a shortage at the start of the pandemic after virus-savvy consumers stockpiled the product ahead of lockdown orders.
