Kingdom Hearts 4 teaser potentially discovered in Kingdom Hearts 3

It seems like Kingdom Hearts III Could have hidden an in-game teaser that could point players to where the series is heading in the future. While the newly discovered information may relate to something else, what is described seems to align with what we know about the future of the Kingdom Hearts franchise as a whole.

Spotted on Reddit by user Blubbpaule, it looks like the back of the box from Verum Rex, which is a fictional game that appears in Kingdom Hearts III, could provide some teasing about the destination of the series. For those who have completed all of Kingdom Hearts III, and its accompaniment Call back DLC, Verum Rex ends up playing a rather major role as his world is the one Sora is trapped in. In the events of Kingdom Hearts: Melody of Memory, we discover that the name of this world in which Sora is found is specifically called Quadratum.

As for how this boxed copy of Verum Rex may tease the future of the series, it seems to provide some details about Quadratum as a whole. The box contains mentions of the “King of Truth” and also seems to encourage players to “get your heart back”. However, whether or not this is meant to be in reference to Sora in particular, it’s not really clear. There is also mention of something called “Karma”, but it is not clear exactly what that could be. That much, Kingdom Hearts III didn’t say anything about Karma, but if it’s really a teaser like we think it is, we might see it mentioned more in future entries.

Whatever the truth, it looks like Square Enix is playing 4D chess again when it comes to Kingdom Hearts storytelling. It’s a series that has played with its fans for a long time when it comes to world building, and assuming this tease is actually meant to be a tease, it’s no surprise to see this happen again.

The only downside is that, at the moment, it looks like Kingdom Hearts’ next main game could still be pretty far away. Luckily, if you haven’t played any entry in the series yet, almost the entire saga will hit PC later this month on March 30.
