Thursday, double Olympic gold medalist Klete Keller transformed into federal authorities after being indicted by the US District Court in Denver for his involvement in the U.S. Capitol Riot Wednesday.

During a brief hearing yesterday, the magistrate Michael E. Hegarty informed Keller of the maximum penalties listed above. The judge capped the felony charge of “obstructing law enforcement” to a maximum prison term of 5 years and added that Keller could face fines of up to $ 250,000 for every charge.
Keller was released without bail on the condition that he not return to Washington DC before the presidential inauguration on January 21. Keller agreed to appear at future hearings and not own any firearms.
According to USA Today, Justice of the Peace Hegarty has ordered Keller to leave Colorado to visit his children in North Carolina, but he will have to seek permission to visit them after this planned trip. He also returned his passport.
The Denver court said the grand jury would have the option of adding additional charges upon further investigation. This was in reference to the Capitol riot cases in which further investigation prompted the defendants to be charged with more than what they were originally arrested for.
