Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp insists that it's "crazy" to suggest accepting an exit from the Champions League to help his national title be a preferred option.
Since the beginning of the season, experts have said that Reds' hopes for the Premier League would be better served by leaving Europe as soon as possible.
And while Klopp admits defeat against Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena during the second leg of their draw 0: 0 would not be the biggest surprise in the history of the competition, his team will not go into the game thinking about the benefits that such a result could bring.
"They talk continually. That does not mean that they make more sense because of that. That's the problem, "said the boss of the Reds.
"I really do not think any other coach or manager in the world has to answer that question when he plays in the Champions League.
"It's really unique. This only happens if you are the manager of Liverpool and the experts come from Manchester United and start these things.
"It's so easy to sit in an office or studio and talk about things like that.
"We do not build a season and say the best way to get through is to get out of cup competitions early.
"You do that and at that moment, the same people will pick you up like crazy.
"Now we are nearing the end of the season and are allowed out of the Champions League without even trying to get through? It's really crazy.
"I'm not sorry about that. It's so crazy that I'm constantly confronted with this. "
