After initially signing a $ 20 million two-year contract with the Spurs, forward Marcus Morris dropped the deal. Instead, following several reports, Morris will sign a $ 15 million one-year contract with the Knicks.

The Knicks needed more leeway to conclude this deal. They created room by reworking Reggie Bullock's contract after he had problems with his physique. After withdrawing the offer for Morris, Spurs have signed striker Trey Lyles with this money.

Morris averaged 13.9 PPG and 6.1 RPG last season for the Celtics. He has been a regular player in his eight NBA seasons with the Celtics, Pistons and Suns. Morris joins Bullock, Julius Randle, Bobby Portis, Taj Gibson and Wayne Ellington in the Knicks list of free agents this season.

He brings a veteran presence and mental strength to a very young Knicks team who can use it. From top to bottom, the Knicks have a lot of young people and Morris can teach some of these guys. It gives them the necessary experience to help them develop and rebuild.

It's a good bit of change for a player who may not be worth that much, but for a year barely, it's a no-brainer. Once you discovered that Bullock's health was a concern, the Knicks needed a better option. The good choice would have been not to sign Bullock, but it seems like it does not happen.

The real problem for the Knicks is that they now have a whole panoply of powers. Morris can also play little and probably, but the Knicks have almost too many fronts in this team. David Fizdale will have a lot of coaching to do to try to get those lineups into action this season.
