PHILADELPHIA – Tobias Harris of Long Island was calmly angry when he was not selected for the NBA All-Star Game after helping the Sixers achieve the best record in the Eastern Conference.

Harris certainly looked like he had a solid case on Tuesday night. For one night, he lashed out at his hometown team who were desperate for the offensive firepower Harris provided to the Sixers.

Harris hit two key inside buckets down the home stretch as the Knicks cooled off, scoring just 14 points in the fourth quarter, and Philadelphia escaped with a 99-96 defensive-oriented win at Wells Fargo Center.

It was only the second game of the season that the arena has welcomed fans in this pandemic season – 3,100 people.

While there were a handful of Knicks jerseys in the stands, it was a crowd from Philly who watched these new Knicks smash and scratch but fail with just no sustained fire at the end of the fourth quarter.

Harris finished with 30 points on 11 of 20 shots to lead the Sixers to their sixth straight victory as the team continues to win despite the absence of MVP candidate Joel Embiid.

Julius Randle finished with 19 points on just 7 of 19 shots. Alec Burks, a former Sixer, missed a shot in the last minute and made a turnover. He finished with 19 points but shot 6 of 15.

Pulling from behind by three, Immanuel Quickley scored a 3 points with 12 seconds remaining. The Knicks got the rebound and Reggie Bullock shot a 3 point but he was out of bounds.

RJ Barrett, who also missed clutch baskets late in the game, finished with 17 points but shot just 7 of 17 as the Knicks fell to 20-21, losing back-to-back to the Nets and Sixers.

The Knicks are hurting the point guard without Elfrid Payton and Derrick Rose. Quickley looked embarrassed by a strain in his groin but added 13 points. Frank Ntilikina, as good a defender as he still was, went scoreless for the third game in a row, going 0-4.

He was tied 41-41 when the Knicks went on a 7-0 run to go ahead 48-41.

Barrett hit Nerlens Noel in an alley to start the race. Bullock, who turned 30 on Tuesday, drained 3 points from a Sixers turnover. Barrett capped the race after another turnover from Philly. Burks led Barrett, who sprinted down for a high-flying, undisputed left jam.

The Knicks kept the lead 56-48 at halftime as Randle, after his tantrum after the buzzer in Brooklyn, drained 3 points on the game’s first possession and finished with 13 points and four assists to half-time.
